Life's better with improv.
About us
We believe impov comedy makes life better. Whether you're taking your first class, cheering from the audience, or bringing your team together at work, improv builds confidence, connection, creativity, and a whole lot of laughter.

The team
These are the folks who make the magic happen.
Russ Brummer
Russ has been performing improv since 1999, when he co-founded table23 comedy and helped co-found Second Storey Theatre in Port Coquitlam. Previously a Main Stage performer with the Vancouver Theatresports League, he's known for his cheeky sense of humour, quick wit, and ability to keep audiences on their toes.
A Certified Public Participation Professional and experienced facilitator, Russ has taught improv to schools, businesses, and government organizations. He loves helping people connect, collaborate, and have fun through improvisation.

Graham Myers
Graham Myers discovered improv at 13 and has been hooked ever since. In 1999, he co-founded table23, which eventually grew into Second Storey Theatre—a beloved black box space that nurtured countless performers and productions.
Today, Graham performs across the Lower Mainland while sharing his passion for improv as an instructor. His thoughtful teaching style encourages people to challenge themselves, embrace play, and discover the confidence that comes from saying "yes, and."

Mikaela Myers
Mikaela discovered improv in 2011 at Second Storey Theatre and has been performing ever since. She has appeared at the Winnipeg and Seattle Improv Festivals and shared the stage with Kevin McDonald of Kids in the Hall.
As a communications professional, Mikaela combines her love of storytelling with her passion for improv. Whether she's performing, producing, or working behind the scenes, she's always looking for new ways to grow the improv community and, most importantly, new things to laugh about.

What we stand for
Respect
comes first
Great improv starts with listening, supporting others, and treating people with kindness. We strive to create an environment where everyone feels safe to contribute, take risks, and be themselves.
Laugh
together
Laughter is one of the fastest ways to build connection. Whether you're in the audience, on stage, or part of a team workshop, we believe shared laughter brings people closer together.

Growth through play
The best learning happens when people feel free to experiment. We encourage curiosity, creativity, and embracing mistakes as part of the process. That's where confidence grows.

Courage
to say "yes, and"
Improv teaches us to approach ideas with openness rather than judgment. By building on one another's contributions, we create stronger scenes, stronger teams, and stronger communities.
Fun
has a purpose
We love making people laugh, but the impact goes beyond comedy. Improv helps people communicate more confidently, collaborate more effectively, and connect more authentically.

Improv Theatre performed a custom show for my birthday party... and they had everybody laughing! It was very fun and personal. I have never had an improv act entertain at my house and I'm completely sold on it now! Every guest was taking videos the entire time because it was just so good that they wanted to be able to relive it over and over again.

I love going to Improv Theatre's bi-weekly workshops. It is an hour and a half of silly fun, learning all about the craft with a positive an supportive group led by some of the best improvisers in the biz! If you get a chance to see Improv Theatre perform or attend one of their workshops, I highly recommend it!

Improv Theatre is hilarious. Mikaela, Graham, and Russ together as one unit or as individual performers and/or instructors are equal parts funny, insightful and delightful. Highly recommend to add to any program or build your entire event around them. I love sharing space with them on and off stage. Good times guaranteed.

[Improv Theatre] is a bunch of inspiring and imaginative instructors. [They create] a friendly space to meet other improvisers on their journeys of yes and.

I was a beginner and a bit nervous when I first came to a class, but it's very welcoming and open for all skill levels and ages. Each drop-in focuses on a different aspect of improv, so I learn something new every time.
